Welcome

the brier breton blog

January felt long, really long, like 187 days long – but work wise I only had a handful of projects on the go after taking time to enjoy the last bit of holidays and oversee the week of online learning for the rascals. Once they were back in school I could hardly wait to open boxes and see what clients had sent for their styled product photoshoots.

Jaybee Design

Jaybee Design was my first shoot of 2021, I am very familiar with Jaclyn’s products and how she likes herproducts styled so it was a perfect way to ease myself back into styling and shooting products after taking pictures of the rascals all holiday break and mostly only using my phone.

Here is a look at the Valentine’s Day themed styled product photoshoot:

You can shop these products and more from Jaybee Design or if you live in Calgary, pop into Collab in Southcentre Mall.

Essentials by Nature

All Essentials by Nature products are made out of natural essential oils and other plant-based, all-natural ingredients. And a big bonus for me – the products are packaged and branded beautifully –  so they are a favourite of mine to take photos of as well as use daily!

In January, I had to the chance to take photos of two of their bubble baths as well as the Calm body mist and roller. Jill from Essentials by Nature has always been clear on her purposes of these photos using them for social, e-commerce and wholesale; her branding needs to be simple with soft pinks and props that compliment the natural ingredients of the products. To ensure I am providing fresh content Jill and I share a Pinterest board that she adds her ideas and wish list shots to. If you are prepping for your own product photoshoot or eve taking photos of your own products I highly recommend utilizing Pinterest to save your ideas so you’re not wasting time searing for a screen shots on your phone.

Collab

I had the chance to stop into Collab for a shoot and check out the new products from local creators. This store has become my favourite place to shop when I am on the hunt for a gift. I picked up teacher gifts here before the holidays, a crib board for my brother-in-law, a sweatshirt for my sister-in-law – there really is something for everyone.  Collab is located in Southcentre Mall but you can shop online as well.

Callia Flowers

My main focus for January was preparing for another big photoshoot with Callia Flowers. Callia sent 5 beautiful bouquets of flowers for this Mother’s Day themed shoot although it was a lot of work planning and executing during a lockdown period – I am so happy we pulled it off. The photos from this session turned out great but I cannot share them until May so here is a look back at some of my other favourite Callia Flower photos.

Order a bouquet or three in time for Valentine’s Day or any occasion from Callia Flowers.

Little May Papery

I was very excited when Leanne from Little May Papery connected with me to book a large styled product shoot, it has been quite a while since our last shoot so she sent over what seemed like every product she ever created and I couldn’t wait to get to work. Leanne also included paper for backdrops, fancy stamps, and a few other key items to use as props that she felt would best represent her brand through product photos.

She asked for simple yet colourful and I think that is exactly what she received!

My February calendar is filling up quickly as clients are launching new products or have updated branding for the new year, and I am already looking forward to March when spring themed sessions really kick off. Styling products with fresh flowers is my favourite and I love an excuse to fill my house with florals.

Thanks so much for checking out the fun projects I had the chance to work on in January, looking forward to showing you more each month.
